ESPN the magazine is one of the worst publications around. I pay for the ESPN Insider stuff and the magazine is included so I get it anyway, normally I throw it out but I just got the NFL Preview isssue this week. So I decided to look through it.

Here are there NFC West Predictions...

1...Seahawks 10-6
2...Rams 8-8
3...Cardinals 6-10
4...49ers 6-10

Says the Super Bowl Hangover, Warners age, loss of Pendergast & lack of O-Line depth will equal a losing record.

They also have the Packers at 7-9, Falcons at 7-9 and the Chargers with the best record in football at 13-3

I had a 1-year subscription when it first come out. Sounds like it is the same horrible fish wrapper as 5-6 years ago. :(

I did a breakdown of one issue last year sometime it was like 80% ads and 20% content and of that 20% very few multi page articles/columns.

Its crap. I honestly forgot to cancel my insider subscription and it auto-renewed so I still get it unfortunately.

From NFL Network (Jason La Canfora):
NFC West

Winner: Seahawks. I worry about the injuries to the offensive line. I worry about Marcus Trufant still being on the PUP list. But they have the best QB in the division in Matt Hasselbeck and they reloaded some on offense. The running game could be iffy, too. But I have a feeling this team bounces back and plays with more passion this season. In this division, a flawed team will come out on top and the Cardinals don't strike me as a team ready to mount back-to-back deep playoff runs.
Hasselbeck the best in the division... Ah, NO! And as it looks right now the Seahawks better hope his back is healed because he will be spending a lot of time on it.

IMO if you keep the records as is and put it in this order it's what i see going down:
AZ(default)
SEA(much better if health permits)
ST(better)
SF(takes a step back)

lol according to them losing Pendergast is going to hurt us more than Seattle losing Mike Holmgren.

Anyone who sees this game as the prequel of the season need to take a step back and have a drink. Sometimes it is darkest before the dawn and a good ass whooping in preseason is sometimes the medicine for a team who is overconfident.

That ass whooping still doesn't hide our defensive defeciances. We still lack pass rushers and a FS who can prevent the homerun ball. The scheme and coach may have changed but the play & the players on the field hasn't. We're gonna have to outscore our opponents once again. Keep drinking the:koolaid:

Do the Steelers, Pats or Giants need a slap in the face to wake up? If this team is overconfident at this point...:bang:the supposed Super Bowl runner-up jinx will continue.

I don't know if a DC has ever been fired in preseason but IMO it wouldn't be insane to do it.

That was an old fashioned ass kicking, we were owned.

Ill keep the kool aid until regular season. It is way too early to hit the panic button. The Giants got steam rolled early this preseason. I dont see any Giants fans on the ledge. Whis is not game planning these games to win, he is evaluating talent and seeing who he wants on this roster. Many successful teams have gone winless in preseason only to have tremendous regular season. Teams like Detroit, Green Bay and Cincinnati have to game plan because they had awful seasons last year, or are trying new things out.

Once again....it is preseason. No one will remember the record nor the teams we played by the end of the season.

Yes it's preseason, but there were a couple of TV shots of Whis on the sidelines during the first half. He was not a happy camper. Preseason or not, that was the pre-Whisenhunt era Cardinals on the field Friday night.

I understand its preseason but I'm still looking for at least 1 reason you think this defense is any differant than last year. This isn't about the team as a whole, it's about it's putrid defense. Once again, this team will have to win by scoring 27-30 pts a game.

Like I said the coach and scheme are basically the only things that have changed. No pass rush-same as last season Rolle-same as last year and will never be a legit FS. Give me some reasons for your optimism defensively, please!!!

Wow, you really dislike Rolle, he may be inconsistent but he is the most talented FS the AZ Cardinals have ever had. He played well last year at times but was caught out of position in others but it was his first year learning a new position, I'd say the good outweighed the bad.

I am just going to take a guess too, our defense probably didn't show too many of their regular season blitz packages. Why would they? This is, after alll, the same defense that had 4 sacks in the first quarter last week without much scheming.

What worries me most is our depth at CB, Brown has never impressed me at CB and Toler is a project, I'd feel much more comfortable had we been able to keep Rod Hood around as the nickel.

I have no dislike for Rolle, he just needs to understand his "role" as a FS and he doesn't.

I agree with you on the blitz packages not being fully into the gameplan but remember this: you live by the blitz you die by the blitz. Blitzing is only effective if you get to the QB and gives the offense more chances for big plays. Don't you love it when teams blitz Warner? Remember "Cruddy Ball" when he brought his famous 46 defense to the desert? Those teams when they didn't get to the QB gave up lots of big plays defensively.

Bucky I do agree this was a bad game overall and no one, especially the coaches were pleased with the results. Thats why the starting D was there until the end of the 3rd quarter; to send a message. I didnt see Whis on the sidelines as I was at the game, but I heard it in his voice during the post game interview on 620 KTAR. And Ill admit I am a little concerned about Rolle......but once again it is only preseason!

If you forget about the debauchery that was last night, you can recall the last two games where our starting D was in the opponents backfield more times than not. We had 4 sacks in 7 minutes againts Philip Rivers and a good O-Line. We put pressure on Roethlisberger. Calais Campbell looks like he wants to be the next Simeon Rice out there. With two 3 technique rushers that are explosive like him and DD, our OLB sacks are going to sky rocket from last season.

Our regular season record going into this game was 0-0. After the game, its 0-0.
