The problem with any trade acquiring a single bat is it doesn't make the lineup appreciably better. No one short of Barry Bonds is going to force teams to throw fastballs to this lineup. It's a predominantly young inexperienced group that loves fastballs. You can always pitch around one danger spot in the lineup if there's no one dangerous in the front or the back that really scares you.

No thanks, there are very few trades I'd really approve of the Dbacks doing. Maybe if they could get something for Hairston and Nippert, but I'd rather not move Quentin. I doubt Hairston and Nippert would really bring in much though.

I'm fine w/ the Dbacks losing a ton of games from here on out, just play the young guys, set yourself up for the next few years. I pray the front office doesn't think the Dbacks are 'in the hunt' around the deadline and do something stupid. If you arent in the hunt realistically for the pennant (and I don't see how this team could be), then there is no reason to get rid of young talent for a veteran who may or may not work out.

I think the Dodgers are thinking the same thing. Also, if a NL West team does somehow make it through the playoffs, at the end of the day you still have to face an AL monster.

I think this team could be dangerous with a real power hitter. Just look how they do when someone like Reynolds comes in or one of the batters is unrealistically hot...the offense is really good and the pitching always is solid. I would love them to try and make a trade to compete....but not if it's Dye, or else someone that wouldn't stay for a while...

Not worth it. We're not winning another WS until these guys develop a bit more... Don't mortgage the future like we have in the past. Having said that, I might be willing to part with Conor Jackson to bring in a power hitter if it looks as though we might make the playoffs.

ESPN writers suck for the most part. I only like Bill Simmons and for some reason he is Page 2.
