Steven A. Smith was just on ESPNews and said no deal was imminent. He said he talked to the Magic GM last night, and he was told they were still talking to other teams and no deal was imminent.

I think the Rockets deal is only getting attention because the Magic are intentionally leaking info about it because it is still a big poker game and although the Suns deal is already better they are trying to make the Suns ante up and give up Johnson.

If you think about it the Magic don't hold a lot of cards to make the Suns ante up because no team would be willing to trade for TMac without knowing that he would resign or accept an extension.

Trying to use the Rockets offer as a trump card to get an even better offer from Phoenix is the smartest thing to do even if it doesn't work.

I can't imagine the Magic accepting that Rockets offer. It isn't even better than Marion and #7.

I am not sure I would be happy about trading just Shawn Marion for those Rockets outcasts.

Almost all deals have more players or picks when they are finalized than what we usually hear.

However, the Rockets do not have a pick until the 56th pick in the 2nd round this year and that will not help any deal happen.

The Rockets could include their first pick next year to help it go.

TMac, Howard, Declerq for Francis, Mobley and Cato.

I am sorry for all Orlando fans if that happens.

If that is the deal I definitely echo your sentiments.

I'm actually pretty sure that this was just a leak from Houston. They made this as an offer and that's all it is. The Magic would be stupid to make any deals this early. Draft night is when people get anxious and throw offers together at the last minute.

Jim Gray reported that Francis told Houston management he doesn't want to play for Orlando or that he doesn't like Orlando but wouldn't mind being traded.

Vecsey reports that Francis wants to play for Chicago and Orlando would just turn around and trade Francis for Chandler, Hinrich and Jerome Williams.

This is getting too complicated.

Francis and Crawford in the same backcourt? Not under Skiles.

Why would T-mac want to play with Yao. VanGundy is going to go crazy trying to get T-mac to play some D.

I dont know how the rox got caught up in all this, but their offer is the worst. I mean you're trading a benign cancer (TMAC) for a malignant one (STEVE), but whats worse is you have to take back a chump like cato for 8 mil a year and give up jowan howard. If this rox deal does go through maybe we should offer jacobsen for okafor to orlando when he gets drafted...

I dunno...maybe players are starting to give yao his due...he seems to be in the top 3 of starting centers...and he can pass too.

This is a consideration. Has T-Mac told the Magic who is acceptable? If he won't sign an extension, then it makes no sense. Unless of course the Rockets just want to do a salary dump. :p

maybe that's why the suns didn't pull the trigger on a trade. maybe t-mac wouldn't committ to a long term deal.

There are so many variables in this trade--the expansion draft, the extension for McGrady, Francis not wanting to play in Orlando... And yet, the only word of it is STILL just the Jim Gray report. No kind of statements from anyone else. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
