ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Wolverines have been known for the past several years for exemplary offensive line play but the unit took a step back last year. The axiom 'you get better at football by playing football' sometimes seems to go out the window when it comes to prognosticating which players will be stalwart the upcoming year, but, in the past, we've seen players considered liabilities improve greatly year over year. Look no further than much of the 2020 squad compared to the next year (or two).

One Michigan football offensive lineman who has been much maligned over the past year has gotten a couple of votes of confidence, however, from outgoing Wolverines who know what he's capable of. At pro day on Friday, defensive lineman Josaiah Stewart shared his pick for a player he's excited to see in 2025, while noting that 2024 maybe didn't go as well as it could have for him.

"Evan Link, I mean, he has the most experience on our line, and it can only help him going forward," Stewart said. "He's had great games, had bad games, but as he comes with it as a young offensive lineman, it's going to happen. But those moments are going to make him better."

Last year's starting left tackle, Myles Hinton, knows a little something about what it's like to be in the struggle. Having had a similar trajectory while at Stanford, being asked to move from his native left tackle to right tackle, he also had some issues getting acclimated.

However, as he overcame his own issues, Hinton is confident that Link will make the same adjustment.

"It's hard. I feel like, I think, almost for certain, but I think Link was playing left until the sophomore year and I was like, Link, we had the same career path," Hinton said. "My sophomore year I switched to right as well. Had some days where I wasn't playing as good as I thought I should play. Kind of got in my head a little bit of a Link. So it gets better.

"You're gonna have those days, like it's an all-or-nothing process. You have a game where you feel like you played bad, you have a game where you get put on your butt, you're good. But like, dude, you gotta keep learning from that like knowing, OK, I won't do that anymore. Kind of stuff like just take what you can from the loss that you do take.

"And yeah, I was there as a sophomore as well. I had my sophomore year -- you can ask anybody -- I was not the greatest tackle in Pac-12. So I can relate to that for sure. I feel like it's -- what do you call it? It also gives him hope, you know. I'm trying to help him along the way."

Fans will get an opportunity to see Link get his chance in the annual spring game on April 19 at The Big House.
