The Washington Commanders don't have a history of picking late in the first round, at least for the past 30+ years. But after a 12-win season and an NFC championship game appearance, the Commanders pick 29th overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.
The good news is that Washington should have multiple options with the pick. The Commanders could stay home and select the best available player, or move back and out of the first round. Washington has only five selections due to three trades for veteran starters, so moving back and adding more selections would be smart.
Of course, you need a trade partner. Fortunately, the depth of the upcoming draft matches up well with some of the Commanders' needs. Whether it's an edge rusher, cornerback, offensive lineman, or an offensive weapon, Washington will have multiple strong options.
Let's pretend the Commanders remain at No. 29. What's the history of players selected 29th overall? We've focused on recent history, looking back at the last 20 players selected at No. 29 in the NFL draft.
