Eh, whatever wins Shabazz piles up will probably someday be vacated anyways. Amazing talent though, the kid is James Harden on steroids.
I actually suspect he'll be suspended a few games at the start of the season like Selby and then it'll be good to go. Unlike Selby and Sidney etc he actually disclosed up front that someone else was helping pay for the unofficial visits. Furthermore the trips were to Duke, UNC, Memphis, Arizona, not UCLA.
The guy who paid for them is based in North Carolina and a longtime family friend but my guess is the NCAA will still decide it's extra benefits and make him pay them back.
Right now we're seeing people like Goodman etc try and claim Adidas bought and paid for him to go to UCLA but it's kind of hilarious. Do they really not think there's a similar connection with all the Nike schools like Duke and UK and all the Nike backed AAU programs that send teams to those schools?
It seems like the key piece of "evidence" in this claim is that Shabazz' older sister Asia has an Adidas contract as a pro tennis player that's ranked like 380th in the world. What they fail to mention is she signed the contract at 15 when she turned pro, Shabazz was THIRTEEN at the time. And she doesn't have a Kobe Bryant megamillions shoe contract she has a standard Adidas apparel contract which provides her with Adidas gear to wear in exchange for her promising to not appear in tournaments and tennis based events in any competitors gear.
It kills me that a bunch of Nike schools recruited this kid until the end and then when it became clear he wasn't coming they all start complainign about Adidas. UK fans are fine with anthony Davis walking into the crowd after winning the NC so he can huge Worldwide Wes and 2 Nike execs sitting behind the UK bench, but Shabazz picks UCLA and it's shady?
