The Texas Longhorns are officially in the NCAA Tournament. UT earned a spot in the "First Four" and will take on Xavier on Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio. The game time has yet to be determined.
The winner will advance as the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Region and face No. 6 seed Illinois in Milwaukee. The University of Houston holds the top seed in the Midwest.
Following the Selection Sunday announcement, Texas head coach Rodney Terry addressed the media, expressing both gratitude and determination.
“We would have loved to have won a few more games,” Terry said. “I've been here 13 years, and we understand what the standards and expectations are at the University of Texas, and we don't shy away from that. But we are excited about this opportunity to continue to play, and we've been granted 40 more minutes, just like everybody else in this tournament.”

Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte said he had a strong feeling the Longhorns would make the field as soon as he saw North Carolina’s name announced.
"It's a clean slate. Everyone's healthy," Del Conte said. "You got Xavier, you got Illinois. We have a chance. That's all you can ask for."
Texas will look to capitalize on that chance when it takes the court Wednesday in Dayton. ESPN analytics favor the Longhorns by 53.6%
