Plot Summary: Alex Garland, writer of "28 Days Later" and "Sunshine," makes his directorial debut with the stylish and cerebral thriller, "Ex Machina." Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company's brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac).

Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated––and more deceptive––than the two men could have imagined.

Slow but interesting.

I'm convinced Caleb is AI as well...advanced with better skin. They really pushed that idea.

Was Caleb the guy who won the "contest" to go there?

I thought it was phenomenal. I have seen it twice. Once by myself out of curiosity then again dragging several friends and family members with me. Everyone loved it.

Its the nudity and the every other word F bombs from Nathan. I haven't seen it all yet, but man is it slow. Does it get any better? I'm at the part where Caleb plans to get Nathan drunk.

It sticks with you. Not great IMO but good and twisted enough to sit in the back of your mind for awhile.

Interesting theory, but I think that's why they had the bathroom scene (to squash that theory).

Heck of movie. Just real enough to creep you out.
