The Tennessee Titans have remade their inside linebacker room this offseason by making some surprising wholesale changes. They started by bringing in Cody Barton from the Denver Broncos and then said goodbye to Luke Gifford, Jack Gibbens, Jerome Baker, and Kenneth Murray.

The trade of Murray came as a bit of a surprise after being one of their splash signings in 2024. The veteran linebacker was entering the final year of a two-year, $15.5 million contract and was potentially a cut candidate, but with the other changes that were being made, he appeared to be safe before the trade to the Dallas Cowboys.

Not only were fans surprised, but Murray himself was caught off guard by the move.

"I'm not gonna lie, it was extremely surprising for me, just because I wasn't expecting it," Murray Jr. said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. "At the same time, I was ecstatic because obviously playing for the Dallas Cowboys is a big deal. I'm excited to be able to come here, bring my brand of football and just fly around and make plays."

A former first-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers, Murray underwhelmed during his first campaign with the Titans and struggled against the run, something that plagued Tennessee's defense all season. Now, he will have a chance to play for his favorite team growing up in the Houston area.

Murray has 67 starts across 73 career games while recording 416 total tackles (271 solo), 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 12 passes defensed, and three interceptions over five seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and Titans.
