After watching King Arthur I decided to go back and watch this one. It’s amazing how much technology has improved over the last 25 years. The fighting scenes actually seemed sort of silly. I guess I would have liked it more if I would have seen it years ago. The acting and fighting scenes were just a little too goofy for me.

Disagree almost 100 percent. Yes, technology has come a long way, but movies today tend to overuse technology in place of, well, good plots and real acting. I loved this film, and continue to love it, despite some flaws. It's like Ladyhawke...sure, the music is terrible, but it's a damn fine film.

This is the best movie ever. The fighting scenes are very real. What you see today is very unreal but good for the cameras. Hey Stout what are you talking about? The music is Wagner, good stuff man.

You misunderstand...I was talking about the music in Ladyhawke. The music in Excalibur is INCREDIBLE!!!

Good point about the fight scenes...armor was difficult to move in, and a common misconception is that broadswords and the like were mainly to slash. That was a possible use for the weapons, but they weren't very sharp...they were mainly to bash and break bones.

I love the scene of Arthur and Mordred. Mordred runs Arthur through with a pike and Arthur slides himself up the shaft (with blood and guts coming out is lower back) to get to Mordred and shoves Excalibur through his chest. Mordred wondering what the hell just happened because momma Morgana bewitched his armor to be impenetrable from man.
