Excessive Penalties and Challenges

The flow of the games across the league is being completely screwed up. Phantom holding calls and penalties in the ”grey area” are rampant. Additionally, challenges outside of the 2 minute mandatory review from the booth are causing teams to lose momentum unnecessarily. Can we please go back to 1990s football? This is becoming absurd

I brace myself on every 3rd down of every game I watch now, because it seems like the refs. feel impelled to toss a flag if the offense doesn’t convert. It’s as though they’re trained to think that there must have been a penalty if the offense didn’t gain a first down.
