Seen this trailer several times recently. I'm on the fence with this one. Not sure if I want to see it. 9/11 is still fresh in my mind like it just happened yesterday.

I am kinda done with Tom Hanks movies. This looks like the typical Tom Hanks movie.

I hear ya. Tom just smiles and we are all supposed to swoon. Same with Julia Roberts. She laughs her hyena laugh and the world is supposed to stop.

That's why I'm so glad that Larry Crowne bombed. Maybe the masses are figuring it out.

From the trailers, the direction looks incredibly heavy-handed.

Also, it's being marketed as a movie about 9/11, but it really isn't. It's a movie about how a family copes with the death of the father. How will the wife go on? How will the children react to growing up without their dad?

The 9/11 angle seems to be a cheap way to bring more attention to the otherwise universal themes in the film.

The way it was made, the story, or both? We need some details!

the story. hated the kid, hated the story, the acting, the capitalization on the most horrific event this country has seen in decades, if not ever. all of it made me sick to my stomach to the point that i turned it off after 45 minutes.

I am pretty sure I started reading the book, and I had a similar response.

Heavy handed is the perfect phrase for the whole thing.

eh... it kind is about the repercussions 9/11 had on the entire city... at least the first 45 minutes were. it's not just the loss of the father story.

that being said, it's still terrible.

How did you turn it off if it just hit theaters today?
