With free agency mostly wrapped up, NFL mock draft season is in full effect. The Atlanta Falcons enter another draft facing questions about the defense, particularly the pass rush. The team continues to rank near the bottom of the NFL in sacks each year, finishing 31st in 2024.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is back in Atlanta to help head coach Raheem Morris get this defense back on track after an underwhelming year under Jimmy Lake. Thus far, the Falcons have added linebacker Leonard Floyd, safety Jordan Fuller and defensive lineman Morgan Fox in free agency.

Even with these additions, more help is needed and the draft is the place to get it. In a new seven-round mock draft from Pro Football Network's Ben Rolfe, the team addresses needs with all five picks. In Round 1, Atlanta lands Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams.

"Mykel Williams has the ideal size and length to project seamlessly as a defensive end in a base 4-3 system," wrote Rolfe. "His explosiveness off the line of scrimmage is impressive, and he’s capable of winning as a pass rusher in several ways. That is exactly the skill set the Atlanta Falcons need to fill their biggest hole."

Williams has consistently been projected to land with the Falcons in mock drafts. The high-motor pass rusher would be a good mix of talent and need at the 15th overall pick. Next up in PFN's mock, the team lands Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos with pick No. 46.

"The Falcons focused on the front end of their defense in the first round but improved their defensive backfield with their second selection," wrote Rolfe. "Behind A.J. Terrell Jr., the Falcons depth chart at corner leaves a lot to be desired, so they need a potential Week 1 starter. Having played in the SEC, Trey Amos should come in as close to pro-ready as it gets and has the athletic upside to develop into a high-upside player."

In Round 3, the Falcons were projected to take Notre Dame defensive lineman Howard Cross. A big undersized, the Fighting Irish standout would be best as a 3-tech in the NFL. With Grady Jarrett in Chicago, Cross would add some depth on the interior of Atlanta's defensive line.

Atlanta closes out the mock draft by taking Oklahoma State linebacker Collin Oliver at pick 218 and USC running back Jo'Quavious Marks with pick 242 overall. Check out PFN's full mock draft here.
