Long time Phoenician!
Last night, Luis Gonzalez got a nice ovation at Chase Field when he pinch hit for the Marlins. I commented to my wife, "His home is still in the Valley. I betcha he rejoins the D'backs after he retires."
Today diamondbacksmlb.com had a nice article about it.
The closing paragraph said, "Whenever Gonzalez decides to retire, he has indicated he would be open to signing a one-day contract to hang it up with one special team. If that scenario arises down the line, Arizona projects to be the team."
I'm all for it, in whatever capacity he and the team decide.
Hey, he could replace Grace in the booth. He'd keep Sutton in line. I can just hear Gonzo saying privately, "Don't preface every sentence with 'Luis Gonzalez'. Talk to the fans." "And, when you come up with a joke, say it once, maybe twice. Then move on." Yeah!
