Fox knew that what they were doing with the Fantastic Four and following the release of Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 the decision was made not to make another direct sequel, but instead to restart the whole thing and hope for something better. The project has been in development for a while now, but has made great strides this year, hiring Chronicle director Josh Trank to direct the reboot and newcomer Jeremy Slater to write the script, but the studio has never delivered a proper ETA.
Now that story changed. The ERC Box Office has revealed that the new version of Fantastic Four will be released on March 6, 2015 - a full eight years after the release of the last live-action effort. The date puts the project in good company with other hotly anticipated comic book movies, other 2015 titles including The Avengers 2, which is set to be directed by Joss Whedon, and the Justice League film. Like the other Marvel properties owned by Fox (such as the X-Men franchise) , well-known comic book writer Mark Millar is serving as a creative consultant on the project.
