Finally pieced this bitch together. It's being shipped as we speak. Lemme know what you guys think...

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ $223
Mobo: MSI K8T NEO-FIS2R $126
RAM: Corsair 184 Pin 512 Mb DDR PC3200 $94
Video: ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128mb DDR, 8x AGP $199
HD: Western Digital 160GB IDE7200 RPM $107
DVD/CD: Sony DVD+/-RW 8x $107

All-in-all I spent just over $900. Thanks to Cardinal.Ken for the head's up on the video card. As for the hard drive, I went IDE because of the SATA drive compatibility problems with WIN XP, I figure, why put up with unnecessary hassle?

All my pro-audio hardware is going in there too, and I can't wait to see how this thing performs.

That sounds pretty fast.

Can you run the 32 bit version of WindowsXP on that processor? It says on the AMD site support for 32 bit software but does that include the OS?

It is pretty cool that it can run both 64 and 32 bit apps. Let me know how it goes.

Supposedly it runs 100% of all 32 bit apps out there. It does run 32 bit WinXP, but I've been reading on a few boards users are having problems with the install.

You are going to see that with any new technology. The jump to 64bit is a big one. Interesting to hear about the compatability with 32-bit Windows.

Just make sure you have the latest drivers of everything. ;)
