Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports the Miami Dolphins have released LB Joey Porter, LB Akin Ayodele and FS Gibril Wilson.

All three of these players could be solid additions for the Cardinals in need areas. Porter is the veteran edge rusher we need in the 4 man rush, Ayodele is an outstanding pass defender LB who is solid versus the run (WILB), and Wilson is a developing FS with range who needs coaching.

Porter should be a Cardinal by the end of the day. (not based on anything i've heard, this just needs to happen) Wilson would be a good add if we can't get Rolle back or Otogwe

I was thinking the same thing but having not seen the Dolphins play much I wasn't sure how much was left in the LBs and if there was any upside to Wilson.

Just when I had my hopes up of him resigning here.

Red flag....

Wilson and Ayodele ranked second and third on the team in tackles, but as former Dolphins linebacker Kim Bokamper told me recently, they repeatedly gave up big plays because of breakdowns at inside linebacker and safety.

"Forced fumbles, interceptions, fumble recoveries, they just don’t give you any productivity," Bokamper said, "and they got exposed from a coverage standpoint, whether it was a running back out of the backfield or a tight end running down the middle of the field. The blame has to be shared between the linebackers and the safeties."

I didn't even realize porter got the axe grind. He's a good pass rusher in the 34 defense. he'll fit good on a team that gives him some time to play

Anyone know how healthy each of these guys are?

That's usually a major sticky wicket when teams release good players. (Like for example, remember Dansby's toe)?

Add Porter and Foote to our LB corps and I'd worry a lot less.

Didn't we think that last year when we replaced Hood with Mcfadden? Both those guys best years are behind them, even though we don't have alot of options.

You have to love the offseason. Miami fans say Ayodele was a bum and the Dolphins cut him and sign Dansby for millions to take his place and Cardinal fans want the Cards to sign Ayodele to replace Dansby because they think Dansby was a bum and any even lukewarm body can replace Karlos.

McFadden was without a doubt a big upgrade to the 2008 year Hood had. Its just a fact both statistically and on film.

I'm not sold on that. I think many on the board said otherwise after the season.

That is because most people only remember the last game or let one play or two make their perception. But Perception is not reality.

The reality is which would you prefer and your answer shouldn't even be close?

69 Tackles

12.5 average allowed
2 TD's allowed

or

40 Tackles

Yeah I do think McFadden is slightly overpayed, but he is by no means a bad corner. He is one of those "What do I do when the ball is in the air" guys, but he is solid. Hardly the biggest concern of my offseason!!

Those difference in those numbers are pretty big.
