There is nothing wrong with Bettcher.... :bang:

in that case, ALL of our defensive players must be S*** (except PP21)... so I guess we need to get rid of ALL them ? Lions adjust offense at halftime and what exactly do we do ? nothing, just like all of last year ... why adjust, we were doing great for the first half !! ... Bettcher (sic) is incompetent ... plain and simple... not a big stretch given that every other coach we have appears to also be incompetent...
either all our players suck and the coaches are great guys and competent as hell (in which case we need to fire Keim yesterday)
or
our players are as good as we have been constantly told and the coaches don't have a clue

it's one or the other... take your pick

I still don't get why we are still talking about the D! They kept the cards in the game. They didn't lose this game, the offense did.

Yeah. And we are getting Buc and Nkemdiche back soon. And Buddha is going to better with live experience.

Our defense literally has thlost potential to be the best it has ever been under Arians and keep us in the playoff hunt until DJ comes back but hey Bettcher is fat so blow it all up.

I cant wait for us to blow out the colts and get all this nonsense off the board

Not sure beating the NFL's version of Saint Mary's School for the Blind's football team is going to do much to make the fans feel better.

Then there is the Cowboys the week after, and I am already looking for cliffs in the area to jump off, after that nightmare in waiting.

The D has line issues the Nkemdiche might help solve. I'm hearing Buc will be out for several weeks. Buddha is still having problem understanding positioning in the defense, but he's got skills. He'll improve quickly. I'm more surprised by how bad the safety play has been. A weak line and weak safety play is a dangerous combo. Huge mistake not keeping Swearinger.

Horton is one strange dude, man. I'd take Bettcher over him any time. But, what might become an interesting development is whether BA would hire Chuck Pagano to oversee the defense if BA stays on another year or two. It would seem pretty clear that Pagano is on the way out in Indy. And BA's loyalty to him is paramount. I could see BA appointing Pagano as another assistant head coach in charge of defense and he would mentor Bettcher who in title would remain the DC. Of course, Bettcher got his first NFL coaching assignment from Pagano, so there is a loyalty factor there as well. That could be an outstanding pairing: Pagano and Bettcher.

Horton is ruined. He went to Cleveland. Cleveland sucks the life out of everyone and everything it touches. Even the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is lame.

Bettcher isn't the worst DC in the league, but I have yet to see him make any sort of meaningful adjustment in a game. That is why I am critical of him. He seems incapable of elevating players with his scheme and gets consistently worked when teams adjust to his planned scheme.

That said, I believe Bettcher does a very good job with the gameplan he brings into the game, but he just doesn't seem to have the ability to adjust on the fly like top DCs do.

+100

And my other tirade about not putting the players in the best positions to succeed given their abilities - Branch should be FS right now, he has an infatuation with Badger and has him on the field even when he isn't as productive.

Last year the DLine changed quite a bit in their approach over the season, so I figures the asst coaches were helping him with that - this is the second year that our backfield doesn't seem to be set up correctly with player/positions, it's either Bettcher or one of the DB coaches advising him that needs to be fixed.
