I use Firefox 95% of the time now over IE. One thing I've noticed repeatedly is that the memory usage of Firefox is really bizarre. I have 5 tabs open on it right now and the memory usage is about 170,000. I just closed it and reopened it because the same 5 tabs were at nearly 700,000 and the browser was running REALLY slow.

I use Norton to do a complete scan and find virtually nothing, I used spyware doctor and malwarebytes, both of them find some tracking cookies but nothing serious. After deleting everything they found, I still get the same issue the memory usage increases.

I've noticed if I start closing tabs trying to see which tab is causing the problem, I get no improvement. I can close 4 of the 5 tabs and it will still show over 700,00 in task manager.

Any ideas what this is?

Memory leak? What type of add-ons are you using?

I'm betting you've been on a page with Flash running, usually ads. Check out software that blocks Flash (and allows you to turn it on as you wish). There's one good program for Macs. Sure there's something for PCs.

Not really sure. Something about script I know but otherwise I don't really know offhand about the addons.

Matt is probably right about Flash, the UCLA scout board has these huge ads that take awhile to load and are probably flash. But even when I close that tab, the memory usage is still high like it doesn't close whatever the problem is.

Facebook seems to be really bad at this.
