1. MIA: Vernon Ghoulston, DE, Ohio St. Parcells tries to trade down, but there are no takers. Ghoulston is the most explosive d-lineman in the draft, and Parcells knows that to beat the Patriots, he's going to need his version of Osi Umenyiora to get to Tom Brady.

2. STL: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College. Everyone expects the Rams to take an offensive ordefensive lineman here, but they realize this is their chance to draft a franchise QB. Privately the Rams front office has been losing confidence in Marc Bulger. Ryan has the toughness they want and need.

3. ATL: Chris Long, DE, Virginia. The Falcons can finally get over last year's loss of Patrick Kerney by tabbing the fiery, high-motored Long.

4. OAK: Ryan Clady, T, Boise St. Al Davis wants to see a resurgence of the vertical passing game, and Clady gives him the best chance to keep JaMarcus Russell healthy and productive.

5. KC: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU. The Chiefs wanted either Matt Ryan or Dorsey. Ryan's gone, but Dorsey's there.

6. NYJ: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas. The Jets' fans go absolutely berserk with this pick. With a revamped o-line featuring Alan Faneca and Damien Woody, the Jets want a homerun hitter in the backfield.

7. NE: Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy. They love this kid, and he will thrive just as well as Assante Samuels did in their system.

8. BAL: Jake Long, T, Michigan. They are tempted to take QB Brian Brohm, but their need at tackle is too glaring.

9. CIN: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC. Perfect fit for them.

10. NO: Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida. Perfect fit for them.

11. BUF: Keith Rivers, OLB, USC. The Bills will wait to pick a WR in round 2, because Rivers is the weakside OLB they are looking for.

12. DEN: Chris Williams, T, Vanderbilt. Fits their system to a tee.

13. CAR: Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami. This just in: the Panthers are not putting their stock into the recently signed Terrence Holt.

14. CHI: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois. Talk about perfect fits. Benson will be shopped around on day two of the draft.

15. DET: Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech. They were hoping for McKelvin or Jenkins, and decide they like Flowers better than Talib, Cason and DRC.

16. DAL (trade with Arizona for the Cowboys' #22, #61, and #167): Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas. Jerry Jones is doing backflips in the Cowboys' war room. Marion Barber and Jones will form the league's most formidible thunder and lightning duo.

17. MIN: DeShaun Jackson, WR/PR, California. Watching Devin Hester for two games each year has opened their eyes to what a speed demon can do for opening up the offesne and creating maximum field position.

18. HOU: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon. They are tempted to take a CB here or T Jeff Otah, but cannot pass up Stewart.

19. PHI: Quentin Groves, OLB/DE, Auburn.

20. TB: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma.

21. WASH: Brandon Albert, G, Virginia.

22. ATL (from ARZ for Atlanta's two second rounders, #37 and #48): Brian Brohm. QB Louisville

23. PIT: Jeff Otah, T, Pittsburgh.

24. TEN: Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan.

25. SEA: Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina.

26. JAX: Andre Caldwell, WR, Florida.

27. SD: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennesse St.

28. DAL: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas.

29. SF: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami.

30. GB: Pat Sims, DT, Auburn

31. NYG: Gosder Cherilus, T, Boston College.

Round 2:

32. MIA: Curtis Lofton, LB, Oklahoma.

33. STL: Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan St.

34. OAK: Tony Hills, T Texas.

35. KC: Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson.

36. NYJ: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas.

37. ARZ (from ATL): Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona.

38. BAL: Joe Sacco, QB, Delaware.

39. SF: Chilo Rachal, G, USC.

40. NO: DeMarrio Pressley, DT, NC St.

41. BUF: Terrell Thomas, CB, USC.

42. DEN: Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas St.

43. CAR: Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC.

44. CHI: Early Doucet, WR, LSU.

45. DET: Dan Connor, LB, Penn. St.

46. CIN: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida.

47. MIN: DaJuan Morgan, S, NC St.

48. ARZ (from ATL): OLB Cliff Avril, Purdue.

49. PHI: Ezra Butler, LB, Nevada.

50. ARZ: Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers.
______________________________________________________________

61. ARZ (from Dallas): Chad Rhinehart, T, Northern Iowa.

81. ARZ: Jason Jones, DT/DE, Eastern Michigan.

115. ARZ: Mike McGlynn, G, Pittsburgh.

152. ARZ: Dorien Bryant, WR, Purdue.

167. ARZ: Brian Johnston, DE, Gardner Webb.

190. ARZ: Jamie Silva, S, Boston College.

238. ARZ: Mike Humpal, LB, Iowa.

Cards Trade Twice?

Yes, once in the last century and once in the next. But thanks for the hard work, we'd all (probably) be happy if it went that way. Maybe not Harry if we don't get the Central Florida RB. And I see you did manage to squeeze in a BC player.

All good and fine but Cason does not fall that far in my opinion.

Getting Rice wouldn't bother me a bit. The guy is tough as nails...

I love Rice. I think he will be a very, very productive back in the NFL. He reminds me of a young Emmitt Smith.

I don't see us passing on any of these players in the 1st round. Why do you have Derrick Harvey rated mid 2nd round?

What's the deal with Stewart, he's good enough at 18 but not here? He'll be fine by training camp, and the heir for years to come. And if they do indeed WANT the home run hitter, why not Jones? Why not here? -Electricity- :D

You get an A+ for creativity. I will be shocked of Gholston and Clady go before the Longs at their respective positions.

As much as i like Jordy Nelson,he won't go in round 2,and no way will get drafted before Derrick Harvey.I also like Rice but his size concerns me. Didn' he measure about 5'9 185lbs. at the combine? That's just too small to hold up to the beating a NFL Rb takes.

I see that OSU squeaked by Akron last night. You guys might make it far enough to get destroyed by the "cuse yet.:D

again Mitch -- hate to nit pick -- but your proposed trades are both heavily stacked in favor of the Cardinals.

Dallas wouldnt have to throw in the later pick, and yet its still in the Cards favor.

the Atlanta trade is widely in the Cards favor -- with the Cards getting 25% more points than the Falcons.

I know the chart isnt locked in stone, but the trend has been that lower picks have become worth more relative to higher picks as a result of salary cap considerations.

If anyone can accurately pick to trades like this they should be named the Football Guru Of The Decade. Picking one accurate trade is hard enough. Picking two would bring thousands of odds in Vegas. Good luck Mitch but do not bet the house as the odds are sure not with you.

It's more like 10-15%, not 25%

edit, you're right. I used the 16th pick in the calculation, not the 22nd.

11. BUF: Keith Rivers, OLB, USC. The Bills will wait to pick a WR in round 2, because Rivers is the weakside OLB they are looking for.
Even though they signed FA Kawika Mitchell for this role?

Now here I can see them hedging their bet?

That would be a sweet draft for the Cardinals... Nice creativity, but too much to expect to happen.

Surprised that no one is pointing out how even if the Cowboys did trade up to 16, what the Cardinals are getting in return is grossly over-balanced based on any draft value chart.
