Last week, we asked the reader to decide which area girls basketball and/or boys hockey team had the best chance to win a state title.
This week, we're asking the readers to decide which area girls basketbll team has the best chance to win a state.
Hamlin's girls won last week's poll and did make the best run out of any of the six area teams playing in state girls basketball (also Sioux Valley, Mobridge-Pollock and Deubrook Area) or boys hockey (Watertown or Aberdeen) tourneys. The Chargers finished third in the state Class A girls basketball tourney.
This week, there are five area boys basketball teams playing in state tournaments. Hamlin, Clark-Willow Lake and Groton Area are in the state A tournament at Sioux Falls and Castlewood and Aberdeen Christian in the state B tourney at Aberdeen. There are no area teams in the state AA tourney at Rapid City. All three tourneys runs Thursday through Saturday.
Now it's up to you to vote on which area team has the best chance to win a state title. The voting will close at midnight on Friday.
Dec. 2-8: Reganne Miles, Doland girls wrestler.
Dec. 9-15: Olivia Anderson and Brooklynn Randall, Watertown girls wrestlers.
Dec. 23-Jan. 5: Josh Kannegieter-Cooper Pommer, Clark-Willow Lake wrestlers.
Jan. 6-12: Harper Hendricks, Watertown girls hockey.
Jan. 13-19: Carson Vavruska, Florence-Henry boys basketball.
Jan. 20-26: Jack Howard, Milbank boys basketball.
Jan. 27-Feb. 2: Kassen Keough, Langford Area boys basketball.
Feb. 3-9: Amree Vander Vorst, North Central girls basketball.
Feb. 10-16: Portia Trias, Estelline-Hendricks gymnastics.
Feb. 17-23: Ruben Alvarez, Redfield boys basketball.
Feb. 24-March 2: Olivia Anderson, Watertown High School girls wrestler.
