wow, neither of you liked it? I guess that doesn't surprise me too much. My roomate and I were dying watching it but when it was over, we both turned to each other and said this show won't make it to season two. just too bizarre for american audiences.

The first part wasn't funny for me maybe because I saw the whole "best looking girl...in the room" bit on Letterman.

Nothing I saw in the first part seemed totally funny, but maybe I need to finish it :)

I thought it was kind of funny, what I saw of it, but it is hard to shift gears and get into that kind of low-key humor after watching higher-energy shows like John From Cincinnati and Entourage. At least for me it is.

Maybe if Flight of the Conchords was on a different night it might do better.

like I said, I thought it was great, but as I was watching I was thinking to myself that this just isn't gonna resonnate with enough people to make it to season 2. Note, that's not one of those "this show is too intelligent for americans" slap - it's just a really out there brand of humor that not all people enjoy.

Just watched it last night and I really enjoyed it. If you pay attention there are some seriously inspired moments. The "I'm Not Crying" song was fan-freakin-tastic:

I'm Not Crying
So, you're leaving. You say you have to go.
Well if you have to go then, I suppose you have to go,
That's what it means, doesn't it, to have to go.
It means you have to go...

But if you're tryin' to break my heart,
Your plan is flawed from the start.
You can't break my heart, it's liquid,
It melted when I met you.

But as you walk down that path that leads from the door,
Don't turn around to see me once more.
Don't turn around to see if I'm crying.
(whispers) I'm not crying, not crying, not crying.

I'm not crying.
It's just been raining,
On my face.
And if you think you see the tear tracks down my cheeks,
Then please, please, please,
Don't tell my mates.
These aren't tears of sadness because you're leaving me,
I've just been cutting onions.
I'm just making a lasagne.
For one.

I'm not crying, noooo-ho-ho-ho.

There's just a little bit of dust in my eye
Just from the path that you made when you said your goodbye.
I'm not weeping cause you won't be here to hold my hand,
For your information there's an inflammation in my tear-gland.
I'm not upset because you left me this way,
My eyes are just a little sweaty today.
They've been looking around a lot, searching for you,
They've been looking for you,
Even though I told them not to.

These aren't tears of sadness, they're tears of joy,
I am laughing!
Haa haa haa haa, ha ha ha ha.

I'm sitting at this table called love
Staring down at the irony of life.
How come we've reached this fork in the road,
And yet it cuts like a knife.

But i'm not crying
I've just been cutting onions,
In the rain,
With my inflamed eye.

(whispered) Big boys don't cry.

Last week I watched the first one and thought it was stupid. I watched the 2nd one last night and, now that I know what to expect, I thought it was pretty darn funny.

"We'd better get a look at him to make sure."

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. The songs they do are some of the best stuff I have seen in a long time. The "he might be dead" part had me rolling and so did the part at the end where the mugger stared at Jermaine after Mickey was talking about how his monkey died.

Was one of the muggers on the Sopranos as part of Tony's crew?

In the season before the last one he seemed like he was part of the crew, he told Chris he needed to clean himself up in the Ben Kingsley episode, but I think he was just the bartender at the Bing. I think he was the one who showed them the newspaper article about the Ukrainian being killed.

Is there anywhere to download Flight of the Chonchords songs?

Holy Crow, those songs are hilarious. I was singing the hip-hop-hippopotamus song to my 6 month old daughter all day yesterday, she loved that song.
