The Florida Gators are in the thick of one of the most important recruiting battles in the college basketball transfer portal, hosting Princeton Tigers guard Xaivian Lee for an official visit as of Tuesday.
According to CBS Sports insider Matt Norlander, Lee has narrowed his options to just two programs: Florida and St. John's.
Lee arrived in Gainesville late Monday night and is spending 48 hours with the Gators, according to Swamp247. This visit is a crucial final step before making his decision on his next stop in his collegiate career.
Lee, a 6-foot-4 point guard, emerged as Princeton's top offensive weapon this past season, leading the team in points (16.9) and assists (5.5) per game.
Lee's ability to control pace, hit shots from deep and create for teammates has made him one of the most sought-after guards in the transfer portal.
A native of Canada who played high school basketball at Perkiomen School in Pennsylvania, Lee went under the radar as a recruit. He held a no-star ranking in the 2022 class, but developed quickly at the college level.
Florida already has a connection to Perkiomen in forward Thomas Haugh. The Gators are aiming to use that familiarity–and the opportunity for Lee to play a key role right away–as major selling points during this visit.
It's evident that the Gators' pursuit of Lee is serious. With head coach Todd Golden looking to add proven playmakers to the backcourt, especially with the departures of Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard, Lee checks every box.

More doings for Florida, per sources: Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee is on an official visit right now. There's been significant interest from other schools in recent days, but I'm told Lee is down to St. John's and Florida at this stage. Lee played in HS w/ UF's Thomas Haugh.
