I see this a lot on the NBA board and didn't know it was the same for NFL fans as far as wishing good veterans get a ring. Fitz had his shot and the Cards came up short, that was his shot. I don't think any player, regardless of tenure, personality, or whatever deserves a title or a shot at a title because they're good guys who've had an impactful career. The truly great earn their shots at titles and convert them also. I think Fitz has reached the stage where he's too old and isn't as talented as he was to lead the Cardinals to the postseason or beyond on his own, his best chance is signing elsewhere because I doubt the Cardinals compete for a Super Bowl this next season with Palmer as their QB.

Think the Cards will be back in the playoffs in 2018 with the majority of the roster they have. Special teams has sucked since we fired Kevin Spencer and BA brought in his own guy Amos. It has sucked every single year of BA's tenure, but last year it especially sucked because special teams miscues cost us ball games- without those miscues, those particular miscues, we are probably in the playoffs, and the way we were playing at the end of the season, it was realistic to think we would have competed punch for punch with any team in the NFC. This was a good year to compete for a spot in the super bowl, and we poo the bed. However, I'll concede that woulda, coulda, shoulda doesn't matter, and the cardinals were rightfully out of the playoffs.

Fitz is hardly old and washed up. He led the league in receptions this year (albeit, he insists an * stay next to his performance). I'd even go as far as to say he is still likely the best receiver in football; if I were building a team today, I'd take him as my first receiver (not just for receptions and yards, but clutch/difficult catches and his blocking is stellar)... A year ago, Carson was lighting it up and Matt Ryan was sitting at home. This year Carson is a bum and Ryan an MVP. There is no reason to think the Cardinals can not/will not be back in the playoff ring next year. Who thought Dallas would be the #1 seed? Who saw Carolina finishing last place in their division?

The Cardinals have the personnel to compete. Of course we have a long way to go (FA and draft) before we finalize the roster, but I see little reason for such a pessimistic view of the Cardinals moving forward. They have been one of the winning most teams the past 4 years. Fitz and the Cardinals still have a shot at a title Mickey...

Floyd would be smart to sign a one year "prove-it" deal with The Pats. With a good season, he could parlay that into a fairly lucrative long-term deal elsewhere. Floyd says he wants to stay with the Pats which, imo, is smart, that is if they are willing to give him a low-on-the-cap, sprinkled with incentives type of one year deal.

You think the Pats still want him?

Didn't the Cards save like 1.7 mil in salary which should become a CAP savings which they rolled over to next year? I'd rather have the CAP room then a 7th rd comp pick.

I would like to know that. I thought we didn't save a dime? Their has to be more to it. If not try to get him help. If he came around you have a good WR for a prove it deal. If not you just let him walk. I don't think we saved any money.

Pretty sure we did. Read somewhere that the Pats ending up paying him ~ 1.7 mil so why would we not get the CAP savings?

Why do you think they signed him.
I honestly think they signed him because the didnt know (and probably dont care) the extent of the dui and they thought he might be of use to the team....and there might be a comp pick if it didnt work out.

Its all business with them.

The way their receivers are playing, I don't blame them one bit for claiming Floyd off waivers.
