I'm sure Jim O will post more about this, but figured it's never too early to think about it ...

Holiday Food Drive This Sunday

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club and Gila River will join forces for a holiday food drive benefiting St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance prior to Sunday's Cardinals-Lions game at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and/or money for donation. St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance will also be selling a football themed plush turkey stuffed animal as part of their "Buy A Bird" program at the Gila River booth (Section 117) during the game.

Ah, Jersey Girl, you shamed me into checking my emails for Press releases from the Cards I might have overlooked. Thanks. I goofed by not checking one that matters.

Buried part way down in a meaningless one was this:

I usually just blitz the Cardinals honor High School player of the week kind of blather without reading it. Same goes for the releases announcing community appearances by various Cards players and the ever-present cheerleaders.

Ditto for the so and so third team special teams player will host a horse shoe throwing camp for left-handed third graders from middle Arroyo school at the Cards facility type of releases.

The newspapers publish them because they feel obliged and the Cards web site always highlights them anyway.

We'll bring cans.

I just hope they are more prepared than the time at SDS when we walked up to the line with a huge bag of canned food and the security person actually looked at us, looked at our bag, and said "You can't take this stuff in with you." :D
