So last year the Cards hired a coach who assured them he who use a 3-4 or 4-3 defense depending on the personnel. In fact he likely already knew he’d use a 4-3. That decision probably cost him his job. Indeed he deserved to lose it. This year they hired a coach who assured them his offense would work fine Rosen at the controls. Then almost magically Murray decides to give up baseball and make himself available to KK. Surely KK didn’t really maneuver this, did he? Have the Cards once again been played by their coach? It might work out but if they take Murray I have to wonder.

I don’t know Harry. Is it possible that during his interview he brought up and pointed out the possibilities of what Murray could do for this offense? Is it possible the cards brass assured him they would explore all the angles with the # 1 pick? If the cards hired him solely on the fact that he could make things work and develop Rosen I doubt that KK could now “demand” we take Murray. If we do take Murray I think it would be a collective analysis and agreement with Keim, Kingsbury, clement and even A-Dub.

To me you take the BPA that also fills a position of need be on defense or offense so this defense heavy draft the Cards are looking at drafting yet another QB/WR when there are far more and serious needs, that has shades of Steve Little to me

The Cardinals hired a sub-.500 college coach to run their professional football team......I think this guy knows how to sell his wares, and how to manipulate (not saying in a bad way) a situation.

Don't be fooled.

We are going to have a really good defense in 2019.

If you draft Murray, we will basically be the 2018 Ravens (or similar).

Lamar Jackson isn't as good as Murray but he 6-1 I think with a very good defense. He puts pressure on opposing defenses, where Murray would do both (pressure and also make them pay through the air).

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan all along (package deal with KK and Murray).

Our offense last season was the real reason why Steve Wilks got fired. Yes, our defense was bad too but our offense was historically bad.

It was a bad hire from the start. Even worse when they decided to hire Mike McCoy as OC.

How about let’s stop blaming the rookie head coaches for personnel moves and blame the general manager who actually has the final say. Unless y’all want to blame the Bidwills, which I’m fine with too.

I would bet it was talked about in his interview.

Something like..... Kyler is a monster... but he said he was committed to baseball so..... Let's move back to Josh.

I don’t disagree but I doubt Wilks promised a great offense.

so the theory Harry is speculating on is:

either:

1. KK gets the job with the Cards by talking about making Rosen a good QB-- Jan 8
2. KK immediately calls Murray and tells him to quit baseball, enter draft --Murray declares on Jan 14.
3. KK hypnotizes Keim and Mike B into thinking Murray is Russ Wilson 2.0
4. ASFN becomes 99% Murray, Rosen threads

or:

1. This was a package deal ALL ALONG. KK got the job not by lifting up Josh Rosen, but pointing out why he will never make it --- but had a solution to that.
2. KK hypnotizes Keim and Mike B into thinking Murray is Russ Wilson 2.0
3. ASFN becomes 99% Murray, Rosen threads

If everything works out - be it with Rosen or Murray - I won't care under which promise KK got the gig.

That hasn't changed except for a very few good years

We haven't had a top 5 pick in 8 years...Peterson. Last top 10 pick they had was 2013 (they traded up to 10 last year so doesn't count).

This is why I cringe when people say "if Murray fails we will have the #1 pick in a couple of years to draft Lawrence"...as bad as this team has been in AZ they have never had the #1 pick until this year.

I guess the silver lining will be that the Cardinals will have a top 5 pick in the draft for several years to come. So we will get a ton of Cardinals talk as the annual draft comes around.
Better than 6-10 every year and getting mid round 50/50 players. Imo. It's really a crappy place to be for most teams..either you're already a good team and pick late to add depth or you suck a couple years and pick early and take players who can't impact your team's for years to come that you can build around. Not saying to tank or anything, and yes, I know.. I dont want us to be the browns. Lol.

Adrian Wilson? That is very collective.

If this ends up a "Ground Hog Day" scenario then Keim needs to be fired and Bidwill needs to stay completely away from any football decisions and just sign the checks.
