The HTC EVO officially becomes available on the 4th of June. I got mine today, though. If anyone has any questions on this device, feel free to ask.

I think they are close to the same thing, but with Sprint you will have 4G available and the Incredible is a 3G only device. Sprint has been deploying 4G over the last 2 years and will be almost complete by the end of this year. In fact most areas not expected to go live until 4th qtr will actually go live this summer, but will not be announced to the public. Verizon will begin deploying 4G sometime at the end of 2010...expect it to take about a year or two. You won't be able to use the Incredible on 4G later because it's a different chipset...not just a software upgrade to do so.

Stats on EVO:

1st 3G/4G Phone
4.3" Touchscreen
Snapdragon 1GHZ Processor
Android 2.1 Op System
8GB Card included...expandable to 40GB
8MP Camera with Flash and Video on the back
1.3MP Camera on the front for video chatting
"Kickstand" for landscape mode...useful when watching videos or using desktop clock feature.
Mobile Hotspot capable for up to 8 devices
This phone was the featured device at CTIA this year and won tons of accolades.

It will be $199 after MIR...available on June 4th.

Is there a pull out keyboard or just touch screen for texting.
Planning to get it on the 4th even without 4G in AZ.Keep us up to date on how you like or dislike some features. Also,do you know when Android 2.2 will roll out?

There isn't one yet.... Verizon has launched many test markets and are going live in many of them by the 4th quarter...

Sprint came out super quick with a technology (WiMax) that no one else is adopting. They are trying everything they can to gain customers as quickly as possible. Even if it means using a 4G service that no one else is adopting.

Verizon, AT&T, and a ton of others will be launching LTE. And I have seen it live. It's freaking crazy.

But in the end.... LTE will be faster. At the start though.... Both should be similar.

No pullout keyboard...100% touchscreen, but with 4.3", it's larger than the iPhone and types well. Couldn't tell you about 2.2...2.1 just rolled out.

That's debatable. Right now WiMax is running 3-10mps on the download, with bursts to 20mps...and 1-3mps on the upload, but we have the capacity and bandwidth (Verizon tried to sue because we acquired so much bandwidth) to dial it up to 10-20 on the download and 3-6 on the upload. You will see much faster speeds after full deployment...and it will be unlimited use, not capped at 5GB's like all 3G is now.

In the end 4G will be similar from company to company, just like 3G. It will just be about who has larger coverage areas and more dependable data rates.

Actually, has been adopted in several Asian countries, prior to the US. One of the reasons SK Telecom tried to buy Sprint 2 years ago.

Can't wait to get it,just hope there are no lines like the IPhone

I think you can pre-order through Best Buy...or find a dealer near you and see if they are taking pre-orders. I know some of the dealers I manage in SoCal are doing this.
