The Diamondbacks are only five games behind for the wild card. There is a lot of games left and when Curt and Randy come back, this team could get really hot.

That is key... Before anyone gets pipe dreams about making the playoffs, we really need to see the D'backs consistently play much better ball. There have been some positive signs along that way of late--the quality of play has improved recently (but we've also been playing some very weak teams in the Padres and White Sox).Originally posted by RLakin
the team hasn't played the type of ball that it would take to climb back into this race. Even when they did have Schilling and Johnson.

I'll admit, I'm a pessimist at this point. However, I will cheer this team on the rest of the way as if they were in contention. This is my team no matter what. I would love more then anything for them to get back in the race and be the Dbacks team that we know. But winning 2 out of 3 games the rest of the way isn't gonna do it. I want to see sweeps. I want to see the offense have a great game along with great pitching. I want to see us make it through a week without losing a damn pitcher! I think this team will finish above .500, but they're gonna need to go on a 2002 Oakland A's kind of run here if they really want to contend.

If you would GUARANTEE that the D'backs would win 2 out of 3 games the rest of the season, I'd take my chances. That translates into 95 wins for 2003, and excellent odds of making the playoffs!!!Originally posted by green machine
