Is a reunion coming for the Arizona Cardinals and cornerback Patrick Peterson? The eight-time Pro Bowler suggests it is happening.
Peterson, who did not play in the NFL last season, posted on his Instagram account that he was coming to see the Cardinals next week.
The caption: It was nothing like taking flight with the bird gang on Sundays. See you next week @azcardinals
Does this mean he will be signing with the Cardinals to play in 2025, especially after defensive lineman Calais Campbell returned to the team in free agency at 38 years old.
After a 13-year career and not playing last season, combined with a pretty full cornerback room, that doesn't seem likely.
However, it could be one of two other things.
He could be going the route of signing a one-day contract to announce his retirement from the league and doing so as a member of the Cardinals.
He was drafted fifth overall by the Cardinals in 2011 and was an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro in his first eight seasons.
Things didn't end well, as he requested a trade, was suspended for PEDs and then made comments about the front office, most specifically former general manager Steve Keim. However, he has always had a good relationship with owner Michael Bidwill and met with him earlier in the offseason.
If it isn't for playing in 2025 or retiring officially as a member of the Cardinals, it is possible he has been offered a role within the organization. Peterson, who has been podcasting now for a few years, could perhaps be a candidate to be the Cardinals' new color analyst as part of their radio team, as Ron Wolfey retired from that job.
He could also be set to take on some role in the front office, much like legendary safety Adrian Wilson did after his playing career.
Whatever it is that is coming, we will likely know soon enough.
