The Kansas City Chiefs will be without a long time member of their defense next season as free agency continues around the league.
According to Sports Trust Advisors, the agency that represents Derrick Nnadi, the former Chiefs defensive lineman is signing with the New York Jets. After seven impactful seasons, the 28-year-old leaves the only franchise he's ever played for in the NFL. The former Florida State Seminoles standout will have an opportunity to compete for a starting role in New York after winning three Super Bowl titles in Kansas City.
Nnadi was a consistent presence and run-stopper on the defensive line alongside All-Pro Chris Jones at defensive tackle. Since the Chiefs drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, he has been a vital option in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's schemes. He finished the 2024 regular season with 11 combined tackles in 17 games, starting one, and notably secured a sack in the postseason.
The Chiefs will likely look to add depth on the defensive line in next month's draft, which is loaded with highly touted prospects.
