Another former Ohio State football star is cashing in during NFL free agency. Most Buckeye fans will remember Jerome Baker from his days wearing the scarlet and gray from 2015 through 2017. The former four-star athlete from Benedictine High School in Cleveland, Ohio, was an extremely productive collegiate player, tallying 159 tackles, seven sacks, and two interceptions in his three seasons.
Baker earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention his last two seasons before forgoing his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. Although his announcement to leave OSU early was a bit of a surprise at the time, it may have been a wise choice, as the Miami Dolphins selected him in the third round. His NFL career has been a bit disappointing, but that is in large part due to injuries slowing him down.
The Ohio native spent six seasons in Miami from 2018 through 2023, where he was fairly productive totaling 587 tackles, 22.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, five interceptions, and a fumble recovery before heading of to the Seattle Seahawks. In 2024 he started the first five games for Seattle but was still traded midseason to the Tennessee Titans. It was a fairly solid season as he finished with 61 tackles, two sacks a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and Baker is looking to build off that momentum with his hometown Cleveland Browns in 2025.
