Former Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Lane Johnson has earned a contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles after becoming a two-time Super Bowl champion last month.

Johnson's new contract keeps him in Philly through the 2027 season, tacking on another year to his previous deal. His extension will pay him an average annual value of $20 million a season, according to OverTheCap.com. That average annual value makes Johnson the fourth-highest-paid right tackle in the NFL.

The former Sooners great helped the Eagles set a club-record 3,048 rushing yards, led by All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. The team also finished second in the league in rushing yards per game (179.3).

"It's been a fun ride," Johnson said via a press release from the team. "Coming into the NFL, you don't know what to expect, but this fan base has really embraced me through the good and the bad. I think that the culture here has been a certain way for a long time," Johnson said. "I felt like I was introduced to something special and in some aspects, we were able to carry on tradition – I think that's what I'm most proud of. And with new teammates coming in, showing them what Philadelphia is about, what this teams about, and what it's like in this building."

The veteran also helped protect quarterback Jalen Hurts, another former Sooner, on their way to their Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.

Johnson played for OU from 2009 to 2012, becoming a starter at offensive tackle in 2011. The Eagles, the only NFL franchise he's ever played for, drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Since then, he's anchored the front in Philadelphia and helped the franchise bring home Super Bowls in 2017 and 2024. In his career, he's been selected to the Pro Bowl six times, earned two first-team All-Pro selections and two All-Pro second-team honors. Even at 34 years of age, Johnson is one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL.
