Another former Carolina Panthers head coach is going back to school to get back into the game.

According to ESPN college football senior writer Peter Thamel, Stanford University is hiring Frank Reich as their interim head coach. The agreement, per Thamel, will only last through the 2025 season—with the program set to launch a "national search" for a permanent head coach following the campaign.

Reich's last job came with the Panthers in 2023. That gig would only last 11 games, as he was dismissed by the organization after a 1-10 start.

This latest opportunity for Reich will reunite him with former NFL quarterback Andrew Luck, now the general manager for Stanford's football program. Reich was the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, Luck's final season in the pros.

He is also not the first former Panthers head coach to land a gig in the college ranks this offseason. Ron Rivera, who led Carolina from 2011 to 2019, was named the general manager for his alma mater of the University of California, Berkeley earlier this month.
