A former Houston Texans great pass-catcher could be calling the name a new threat in the passing game come Friday evening at Lambeau Field.
Former Texans tight end Owen Daniels will announce the second and third-round picks during the upcoming draft in Green Bay. Houston currently has three picks on Day 2, including a pair of third-round selections at No. 79 and No. 89, respectively.
A fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin in 2006, most fans consider Daniels to be the greatest tight end in franchise history. He was consistent, often finishing top three among all targets in receptions and receiving yards while serving as a security blanket for Matt Schaub in Gary Kubiak's offense.
In eight seasons with the Texans, Daniels caught 385 passes for 4,617 yards and 29 touchdowns. He ended his career with a Super Bowl titles on Kubiak's Broncos as a weapon for Peyton Manning in 2015.
The Texans own seven picks this year's draft, including four in the top 100. The first pick at the moment will take place at No. 25 overall and general manager Nick Caserio said every position besides quarterback would be an option.
"We've never drafted for need around here," Caserio said on Wednesday during his pre-draft press conference. "Never going to. We're going to pick the best player we feel fits our program, regardless of the position."
