Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Noah Thomas was arguably the most high-profile transfer portal addition the Bulldogs made in the transfer cycle, but there were questions on why Thomas transferred from Texas A&M to the Bulldogs. In his first spring media availability, he finally answered those questions.
One of the biggest reasons for his decision was because of Georgia football offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. “Mike Bobo’s pitch to me was, ‘Come be great,' and I wanna be great,” Thomas said.
This shows a confidence in Bobo that Thomas can break through and become a stellar player in Georgia's system. Succeeding in one of the best college football programs will elevate him to stardom as a result.
He also cited a connection with coach James Coley. “Coach Coley used to coach me over at Texas A&M. Great dude, real genuine,” he said. "All about Georgia is everything that I want." Coley was also a key cog in landing former five-star USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch.
Thomas adds that his biggest adjustment to Georgia has been "the practice tempo". Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart does an excellent job of getting the most out of his allotted practice time.
Thomas has also been adjusting to the weather. "The pollen. The pollen is crazy," noted Thomas.
"No knock on (Texas) A&M. (I) just wanted something different. Leaving is definitely something that requires you to mature. (This is) the first time really living out of state for me. I really see Georgia on a big stage every year. Coach Kirby Smart is a great coach all around, and he’s going to coach you hard, and that’s what every player should want," said Thomas.
Thomas totaled 984 and 15 touchdowns in three seasons with the Aggies. He'll be looking to compete with Branch and Colbie Young to be the No. 1 receiving target for Georgia.
