Schalke have signed former Germany player and Werder Bremen general manager Frank Baumann as their board member for sport.
The second division club said on Wednesday that Baumann will start a "long term contract" on June 1.
Baumann named Schalke a club with "an unbelievable history, a huge fan base and a lot of potential." He said the aim is to make Schalke "a regular and successful first division club again."
Schalke were relegated from the Bundesliga in 2021 and again in 2023. They came 10th in the second tier last season and are 11th in the current campaign, far from the promotion race.
