Kobe is rumored to be out of the country. Many teams are holding up their FA decisions based on what Kobe does. Even the Lakers are waiting to see if Kobe stays or goes as to what they do with Shaq. They don't want to lose BOTH Kobe and Shaq. Kobe not visiting teams immediatly could bog most of the free agent market down. I know many of us are excited to see trades going on, but I have a gut feeling these first few days could be slow.

My guess is that the first contacts with most players will be "I'm interested" stuff to get a feel for what kind of money it would take. If the amount is lower than expected, it might force an immediate decision.

My plan would be to give preemptive bids on anybody considerd worth more than the MLE such as Brent Barry or Steve Nash. For example, Brent is widely beleived to be available for a four year deal starting at the MLE. This strategy would help limit the competition to just a couple of teams with cap space.

I'm not sure if Foyle or Blount is worth more than the MLE, but if they are prepared to go higher they should put in their bid immediately to shut down all these other guys going after "inexpensive" big men.
