At all participating Wendy's on Wednesday October 22nd (before 10:30 AM) you can get a free Grande Breakfast Burrito with the purchase of any size beverage (coffee/soda).

It is.

The beverage isn't.

No it really isnt. The mark up on beverage's is so rediculous that they arent losing any money. So you ARE paying for it. You are just saving more money than you would spend normally.

They charge you anywhere from 1.59 to 2.89 approx. guess for a beverage that cost them about 10 cents.

So you aren't getting a free burrito because they are making a large profit margin on their beverages?

Are you the same guy that thinks hes getting free drinks at a casino? :)

I do. I walk out with extra money in my pocket and free sodas at the casino.

A coupon that says "Free Burrito" and a coupon that says "Free Burrito with purchase of beverage" are not the same coupon.

So tell me, how much does the burrito cost, Mr. Right?

If I had to guess I would say around $3.00 for the Burrito. But I wont go find out because its not free. I have to pay money to get the damn thing.

How much does the soda cost?

No different than any other day. Its not like they raised the price of the soda 100% to pay for this promotion.

So by your own estimation, you are getting a $3 burrito and a soda for the price of a soda.

DCR, are you saying you would get the burrito without preconditions? That is just naive.

Absolutely I already said that here http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1851489&postcount=9

I just contend that the burrito isnt free. BY being forced to buy the drink you are paying for the cost of the burrito whether you believe it or not.

Lets say you go into Wendy's but you are going there for a coffee, instead of the burrito. You are paying full price for that coffee. The cashier then says that you have try the free burrito because they bought one. Nothing extra is coming out of the consumer's pocket.

Yes, Wendy's will try to help pay for the cost of the burrito by eating the profit that they would have received on the drink, but that doesn't mean that the burrito isn't free to the consumer. It means that the profit margin for Wendys will be changed. I don't think that anyone is debating that the preparation of the burrito costs Wendy's something.

Let's just say that isn't the same thing really.

Why does it matter? The net result from the consumer is the same either way.

1 + 2 = 3
2 + 1 = 3
