Does anyone have, or know of someone who has, some free dirt? Just to fill in some holes in the yard (digging dog).

Thanks in advance.

Dog digs, then what does he do with it?

Does he take it to the places offering free dirt?

I was wondering about that myself...what does he do, eat it? :hulk:

It's kind of like the "where did that other sock go" conundrum.

I mean really.. where DOES that sock go? Does the dryer eat it?

32, if you've heard of the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny, surely you've heard of the sock gobbler monster. He sneaks into your laundry room at night and eats socks. Since he is a very finicky eater, he will only eat 1 sock of a pair of socks.

You may think I'm joking but I'm being serious (for once).

If your dog digs holes, and goes to the same hole(s) repeatedly, put some of his #2 in it. Most dogs wont dig where they waste. I used to have a digger as a puppy and this stopped the problem pronto.

No idea on the free dirt tho - sorry!

Does it have to be fresh?

I am testing this theory.

I have a bunch of sand I'm trying to get rid of. Left over from when we laid down pavers. Don't know if that's what you were looking for, but let me know.

I don't think so - any yard bomb will do the trick, but I pick up every day so I don't have piles laying around for long

It is a deterrent if your dog digs in the same place to stop them from digging that particular hole, but you have to supervise 'em outside and say "Stop it!" when they try to dig a new hole.

Cool - a thread discussing dog poop that does not mention the Cowboys. Must be a milestone.

Hey BIM how much dirt do you need? Does it have to be environmentally safe?

Hmmm...if you still have it, we might take it off your hands. We're going to be putting in some bricks and/or flagstone pieces...need the sand once they're down...

Cool advice, but the dog isn't currently a digger. We had her penned up in a huge run for some time, just to keep her from fighting with another dog when we weren't home. While in the pen she dug a ton of holes in an already uneven yard without much grass. So the free dirt is to even out the yard and fill in some of the holes also. Without much grass in the yard, the dirt ends up everywhere when the wind blows through our area. :D

I've got a source for some good "runners" in order to fil in the grassless areas, but first want the yard to be more level.

Our guys dig up rusty nails from about a foot underground. They sniff 'em out. It's amazing.
They don't dig often, but when they do, they inevitably leave a rusty nail on the patio.
And let me tell ya, we appreciate it. Thanks fellas.

Right now we have one hole where our flagstone's going, but we have an extra bucket of dirt for it.

Hope this all helps BIM.

:D
Really, I'd get a couple of five gallon buckets and go to one of the numerous rock yards around. It should cost you about, oh, nothing or so. Then just rake it even.

I need a picture of the rusty nails before I believe any of it 11. Sounds like a bunch of hot air. I demand pictures of the actual rusty nail(s)!

Drive out to Cooper and Riggs, or anywhere down here...tons of fields with tons of dirt hills that have been dumped for whatever reason.

In fact, that's a good idea for the dirt I need, lol.
