Brad Stevens will be the next coach of the Boston Celtics, the team announced in a press release Wednesday.

Stevens, who just finished his sixth season at the school, led the Bulldogs to consecutive national title games in 2010 and 2011.

"Our family is thrilled for the opportunity given to us by the leadership of the Boston Celtics, but it is emotional to leave a place that we have called home for the past 13 years," Stevens said in a statement released by Butler University.

"We truly love Butler University and Indianapolis, and are very thankful to have had the opportunity to celebrate so many wonderful things together. What makes Butler truly unique is the people that we have been so blessed to work with. When it comes time for our kids to look at schools, we will start with Butler University."

To say Brad Stevens is a hell of a coach goes well without saying. What he did at Butler was nothing short of legendary. He took a small school in Indianapolis that strangles to get recruits from Big Brother schools in state like Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame and took them to a position where they were asked to (and accepted into) the new Big East. He inherited a program that was a perennial 12 seed (or lower) and took them to TWO National Title Games (one, they came a hair away from winning).

Point blank, the man can coach. I know immediately, people are pointing to the Rick Pitino comparisons. To me, they're not quite the same, nor are expectations going forth in Boston. Pitino inherited a team that was expected to compete right away. Stevens is inheriting one that many people think will be in the running for Andrew Wiggins. With 2 picks next year, and 9 firsts in the next three, I don't think it takes much of a rocket scientist to figure out what role Stevens is going to have to play as coach in Boston. Coach the young kids up.
