Didn't Dennis Green supposedly say that Cadillac was a bit too small? According to the newest Pro Football Weekly, the Cards will look at free agent runningback options but are most likely to take a runningback at #8. The article mentioned that Dennis Green is particularly enamored with Cadillac Williams and expects one of the big 3 to be there (Williams, Brown, Benson).

I love the double talk that happens during the offseason. Who knows where this inside info. came from, but it does kind of go with the rumors that were floating around about how ecstatic the Cards were with Williams at the Senior Bowl.

I love this time of year!!

I love this time of year as well. Am I the only one who treats the NFL draft as way more fun that the Super Bowl. I wish the commercials for the Super Bowl would be used for the draft. Too bad the cool fly-overs don't work for the draft.

I'm with you. My girlfriend wants to kill me come draft weekend. I watch the entire thing and she just about loses her mind from boredom. I just tell her to go shopping or something. Wild horses couldn't drag me from the tv. I sit there with my PFW draft guide and just bask in my glory.

I personally dont like the draft.

1 - Cuz I dont follow college football, so I dont know 90% of the players.

2 - It takes waaaaay to long from pick to pick.

3 - All the smoke screens and stuff from teams on who theyll pick.

I usually just watch the 1st round, then go about my business with the draft on my tv watching it every now and then.

Guess thats why I dont throw any mock drafts up or get in the discussions this time of year. :(

Oh ya, that and Im following the other seasons of pro sports in the valley.

Here is what I like about Cadillac--

he is one of the few top of the first round projected guys to not only go to the Senior Bowl, but went there and did everything they asked of him with gusto. The guy volunteered to play special teams, block, etc.

That tells me that this is a guy with a great attitude.

And I have become convinced that attitude is as important as measurables --

The talent difference between Wendell Bryant and Darnel Dockett? Small if any.

The attitude difference between those two? Light years.

Cadillac has what scouts refer to as great natural running skills. Not great stopwatch speed, not great size, but great inate ability to gain yards. Guys like Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Shaun Alexander, Clinton Portis are examples of guys who were described the same way. Not bad company. I too and starting to think the Cadillac may be our guy. He really scored some major points with me when he went to the Senior Bowl. I'll bet he also participates at the Combine. Shaun Alexander did the same thing 5 years ago. Went to the Senior Bowl and participated in all the drills. Thomas Jones skipped the Senior Bowl and didn't do squat at the Combine. Look how that worked out.

You aren't the only one, Gee. I don't really follow college football either, so I don't know half of the guys being mentioned on this board....and I agree that the 1st round take WAAAAAY too long. I usually just watch until the Cards pick, then I'll check back later in the day to see the scroll on the bottom of the screen and see who else picked who.

But I like seeing the mock drafts that people work up here. It's like the cliff notes version of draft research. :D

I'm ok with this if it is true. There is alot of different things coming out about the Auburn RB's in terms of teams who are intreasted.

Jon Gruden is aparently in love with the kid too after the Senior Bowl where he did everything asked of him.

Those of us who heard Dennis Green's interview on 910 AM a couple of weeks ago, could have told you this. When asked about possible running back options during the offseason other than that of the draft, he basically pushed it aside and said things like "we'll keep our options open".

Then when asked about RBs in the draft he went on a rant. He talked for about 10 minutes nonstop about the RB prospects in the draft. There was a genuine excitement in his tone of voice also.

I still go by my stance that he will pick the best available RB when our pick comes up in the 1st round. I'm not opposed to a trade but I think this is the way he is going to go

i would beg to differ on portis. everyone knew he was a homerun hitter, but his size was questioned.

the other dudes you named are the ones that i think will haunt us if we don't pick cadillac. brown and benson's measureables have me salivating, but i'm afraid of missing out on the next emmitt.

Portis is about 20 pounds heavier than he was in college. he also had a rep as a fumbler in college. the biggest problem Portis had was his last year he wasn't "dominant" because he had 2 young RB's looking as good or better behind the same OL. Of course those 2 guys were Frank Gore and Willis McGahee before both of them had hurt their knees.

How about Shelton for Portis. :D

I'd say Green is targeting RB, CB and OL (G) 1, 2 and 3 in that order.

Don't be surprised if it plays out that way.

They had better keep Starks another yr. though and resign another CB.

Cadillac may not be the best back in the draft. But, he may be the best one left at #8. Barry Sanders didn't have terrific size neither. Neither did Chris Brown when the Titans drafted him. Even though we desperately need a TE, there are no top 10 TE's available in the draft. Other than Alex Barron, no top 10 OL's available in the draft. Antrell Rolle would be a nice pick at #8, but we need more offensive help than defense, and Denny is known for drafting more on the offensive side. I really see us drafting the Cadillac at #8, or if he's not available, then Antrell Rolle if he is, and that is even contigent upon if we don't go after Samari Rolle from the Titans before the draft.......

Actually that is a common misconception.

As a head coach, here and minny, He has actually drafted more D players in the 1st round then O players(it may be tied now after the last draft). He has also drafted more D players in the 1st 3 rounds then he has O.
