I think he meant ironic. It does point out the Diamondbacks' turnaround.

The Mercury win a Championship. The Diamondbacks finish with the best record in the league. The Cardinals play strong, despite their 2-2 start.

Maybe the Suns will even make winning their first Championship a priority (Marion for a big man should do it).

And maybe more than a few Valley of the Sun's sports fans will be just that, instead of transplants rooting for their old teams.
