FYI Sunday Ticket Online Streaming this year

My house qualifies but looks like $359 for Sunday Ticket Max unless I buy one of the supported devices. Roku Sticks are one of the few that's actually cheaper combined than just buying Max, but Roku sticks have mixed reviews.

Still debating if I'm going to do it or not, with 49er games and games on tv this year I'm essentially guaranteed at least 5 Cards games and probably more. So I'd be paying that money for 10 or 11 games.

still might beat trying to find a decent feed online on game day but with an expensive trip hopefully coming in up in December not sure I want to pay all that.

I havnt used a Roku Stick, but ive been using regular Roku's for about 4yrs with no problems.

I wouldn't imagine that it would be all that difficult to use an out of area address and stream it in an area where directv is available.

If you need to yes. I don't need to I just need a supported device. I already checked with LG, my smart tv's will not have the Sunday Ticket app, Direct didn't provide them with it.

Yeah I'm doing the math, it seems the Roku stick and the non Max plan is about 50 bucks cheaper, than just buying the Max plan. But a full blown Roku it's essentially the same price. I have a smart TV and I have cable so I wouldn't use the Roku much at least not until my contract with Xfinity expires.

So cost wise the best solution seems to be Roku stick but I'm reading reviews that are quite mixed, not as good as regular roku, menu very slow, crashes and resets etc.

I don't like using the online sites, unreliable, bad feeds often, and more than once I've had the feed go off midway through the game.

If I'm going to do it, I will probably just pay for Max. We're trying to go the Philippines around Xmas this year which is like 2500 round trip each plus spending money, presents etc so this year could be expensive so debating if I really want to pay 350 for Cards games. in fact if we go as planned I'd be out of the country the last 3 games although i could watch them on my girlfriends laptop over there.

Students at 4 year colleges can get Sunday Ticket for much less ($24.99/month, 4 months). If you know someone going to school, you might wanna look into that.

Looks like it's 199 for devices. I use a slimport adaptor to connect my phone into an hdmi input, which works great for many things .... At most $30 for the adaptor

I just got done with my annual negotiation call. It didn't go quite as planned. I did my usual routine. Call and say "Cancel Sunday Ticket" to get you to the right department. They ask why. I say I'm broke. They offer a discount. Then I say "That includes the Red Zone Channel, right?" They add it the Max package for free. And I'm done. That's how it always went in the past. This time, she didn't go for it.

What she did offer was the Max package for a 15% discount - $48.99 x 6. I said that was too much, just go ahead and cancel. I thought she would cave. But she didn't. She started going through with the cancellation. So I panicked and said go ahead with it. Before I mentioned the Red Zone Channel, she did offer the regular package for 20% off - $32.95 x 6.

$295 total is by far the most I've paid for this (Max package). Last year was $210. The year before about $200. I did notice the recorded greeting saying "...now part of the AT&T family." So maybe AT&T is tightening the screws. Then again, I might have just gotten a rep that plays it closer to the book.

The stick has worked well for me.

This is a game changer for myself. As much as I enjoy DirecTV, it is expensive and I don't need it past the NFL ticket.

I will be getting the Ticket this year, and will re-visit this thread after the season to see you all made out with the streaming. Good luck, and I hope it works for all of you so I can jump on the bandwagon next year.

So maybe AT&T is tightening the screws.

It is not that they tightened the screws, it is that AT&T makes it that DirecTV doesn't have to worry about getting every penny out of their customers.

The fact you are going to cancel the NFL ticket is not a big deal compared to a year ago.

It is not like DirecTV didn't know that the NFL was going to allow for games to be streamed. Thus DirecTV knows they lost a lot of leverage, and planned for it.

The student discount is very tempting. My roommate is doing a post-doc and am sure he will let me borrow his "info" to subscribe...

However, I used a separate stream last year that was in HD, it ran about $20 for the whole season but you could only select one team. I just checked the site again and now they only accept bitcoins as payment... sounds a little fishy to me. Not sure if posting the link is against forum rules but I will gladly post that site if admins don't mind.

Either way, the Sunday Ticket sounds legit as I can stream it through my Roku 3. Thumbs up to SO91 for posting that link.

The stream works if that's what you mean. 2 years ago they had a special where if you bought the 25th anniversary Madden game, you got a free streaming subscription. So I bought the game, gave it to my ex girlfriends son, and I got Sunday Ticket all year streamed. Worked great. When I went to renew it last year I couldn't, wouldn't take my login. Called, went through the whole mess and they said you address isn't eligible. I could have used someone else's address, but I just settled for other methods which wasn't all that great.

if we weren't planning on an expensive trip this year I'd just pay for the max and be done with it. But I'm looking at maybe using it for 10 games, maybe less, so that's some money I could spend on vacation.

I've heard there may be offers for people who have AT&T Uverse to get the Max package much cheaper but I don't have it.

Pretty sure it was fishy BEFORE it started requiring Bitcoin.

The NFL needs to get its act together like the MLB. MLB.tv is an awesome service and well worth the (affordable IMO) price. The glaring issue is local blackouts, which I've heard might be going away next season? But a $35 a year VPN has always gotten around this anyway.

They got cut off from using PayPal due to NFL complaints. If you do some research, Bitcoin is not scary or fishy, but the service you purchased may be. There are also a ton of stream options, some in great looking HD.

Interesting. Ive heard about streaming front row to my tvs through my ROKU, ill have to listen and see if that HD stream is possible. Front Row has streams that are marked HD, but from what ive heard they are only slightly better then the regular streams, which in most cases are pretty good. Or so ive heard.

Even if they don't go away this year there's always the VPN option. I've used http://privateinternetaccess.com for about 2 years or so and it works well. They have servers all over the world and can get around any blackout. Obviously it's against the MLB.TV terms of service but eh... People have been doing it for years.

VPN's like this have a legitimate use too. I take my Chromebook everywhere and it's always connected through the VPN so my traffic remains encrypted. Can never be too sure with public WiFi.

I pay for the MLB package and think it is fantastic. If they added local teams, I could watch the DBacks, too, without paying a huge cable bill.
