498 yards, 5TD, 3INT, 92.4 passer rating.

Thoughts on this year and beyond?

He has done better than what I expected, but unless he does better in the rest of this year, we have to get a QB in the draft or FA. JMO.

He did better than people think last year in San Fran. He was horrible in Jacksonville.

He'll be one of the best back ups in the league after we draft our QBOTF? Unfortunately, someone will give him another chance to start and he'd be nuts not to take it.

Im intrigued with gabbert going forward. When he learns more of the playbook maybe BA will call something other than dump routes. Let him compete for starting position nest season.

I highly, highly doubt this.

He doesn’t call dump routes. Every player runs routes and the qb chooses fit who he wants to throw to. He chooses AP. There are few that he calls like screens, but Gabbert has always been known to check down. Do you honestly think the guy who likes to air it our, with the motto no risk it no biscuit, suddenly changes his game plan for Gabbert when he hasn’t done that for years in Pitt, Indy, or here in AZ?

Gabbert is not the future, but when it mattered most he made good throws to win the game against the best d in the nfl. He needs to keep the offense on the field on third down. He’s much like Christian ponder, but with a stronger arm. He isn’t going to lead you to victories unless the team is built around him. He doesn’t step into his throws or follow through with pressure on him. I’m all for starting BG the rest of the year, but I think DS gives us a better chance to win at the moment.

Today was not the first time Gabbert beat Jacksonville, but it was the first time it was intentional. He's playing lights-on football for the first time in his career and I'm really interested to see how he does down the stretch. Dude was clutch today and did well under pressure.

when BA plays vanilla he does. Also why are the reciever running short of the sticks? Not gabs fault.

Let him start next season and have our drafted qb be learning and waiting in the meantime. No sense in throwing a rookie to the wolves and no sense in bringing Palmer back to try and bandaid the offense.

Big Palmer fan and love what he’s done for our orginizaion, but we have too many holes to fill to try and be competitive next season.

I still see a back up but a much better one than Stanton and the team would be stupid not to try and re-sign him. Then you have the outside chance of Blaine maybe even being a starter, little things like getting into field goal range at the end might be that defining moment which changes his mentality and confidence. That was the NFL's number one defense, though I think the Rams are much better but still a legit opponent by anyone's standards... at least their defense :)

They’re combo routes. Normally to take a linebacker away from his zone or a rub route to clear the wr of his man in man coverage. I don’t know for sure because I’m not in the huddle, but that’s what it looked like on tv when fitz caught one for 3 and DJ was tackled short in just 2 instances today

He’s apparently very smart too and studies the playbook. That’s one of the main reasons he started over Kap last year.

Nailed it

He js a guy where the other 10 guys on offense better be darn good if you want a top 10 kind of offense

Gabbert answered some questions today---he set a very good tempo early, just like last week---he forced a few throws like last week---and he fumbled when and where you can't fumble---but, he dusted himself off and stayed true to the course--ultimately he fought off the adversity and led this team back. He made clutch throws down the stretch when the game could have slipped away last last week's. This was his second start and for him to have answered these types of questions already, speaks very well to his talent, his ability to learn the system and his resiliency. All this versus one of the best and most ferocious defenses in the NFL.

How about the Cardinals' o-line? They all the deserve game balls. The two tackles, Veldheer and Wetzel were outstanding!

Plus, not only did Chandler Jones bounce back with a bang from a meh performance last week, as did everyone on the defensive line---we saw the Honey Badger we all know and love! He's baaaaack!

Take away that freaking KO return and the Cardinals won the battle of STs in this game. That too deserves a great deal of recognition. What a great day for Dawson and Lee!

As for Gabbert, I look at his natural ability and skills and he really does have it all. I wasn't sure he had the "it" factor, especially late in games---but today he showed that he could deliver when counted on most, again, versus a top 5 defense. Speaks volumes.

Think too of who he was throwing too---basically, seeing as Fitz was bracketed, it was all the guys he has been throwing to on the scout team. And these guys can play. D.J. Foster showed more grit in his few plays than Andre Ellington ever did in 5 years. And it look now like we have a potential stud TE in Ricky Seals-Jones. What's so great about him other than his imposing size is how he knows exactly when to do when he catches the ball...lowering his shoulder in traffic and swiftly eluding tacklers in open space. The game is not too fast for him, which is rare for a rookie.
