If the first few weeks of the new year are any indication, the run up to the National Hockey League's February 25 trade deadline could be one for the record books. According to CapFriendly, 36 players and 10 draft picks traded hands in 19 separate deals in the month of January. That's the busiest January we've seen since the league's current collective bargaining agreement was signed in 2013 and a huge uptick from last season, when January saw just eight players change teams in five trades. The headliner last month was the Toronto Maple Leafs' January 28 acquisition of defenseman Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings for a package that included the Leafs' 2019 first-round draft pick.
