Jeff Mathis, now the Rangers' catcher, was Greinke's personal catcher.

He would know what to tell his teammates as well as anyone.

And the first batter doubles and the next a bunt single.

We'll see how it works out.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Rangers with 2 runs in each of the first 2 innings.

Greinke not sharp at all. Flores with a killer error to keep the inning going.

Greinke has retired 13 in a row but, once again, has put the D-backs hitters into an uphill battle
with a bad start and a 4-1 deficit.

OK, hitters, it's the bottom of the 6th and time to make magic.

Meanwhile, Torey Lovullo managed to kill an offense that was red hot.

Walker with a single and Escobar with s double in the 9th with no one out and it is a 4-3 game.

Leclerc, the closer, previous had given up only a walk and a bunt hit.

Ahmed strikes out. And Dyson batting for Murphy with a walk-off 2-run homer.

What? Yup, our lightest hitter with a come-from-behind 2-run walk-off homer.

D-backs win 5-4.

As I said in Post #7, it's time for the hitters to come through. I'll be darned. They did!

D-backs are now over .500. If we hadn't lost 3 out of the first 4 at Dodger Stadium . . .

Offense returns just in time. Why again isn't Dyson cemented into the leadoff spot with Jones batting 3rd?

Because I believe a lefty started. It has been a steady platoon, where Dyson doesn't start against lefties. It makes sense.

I am reminded of the Miracle Mets of 1969 when right-handed hitting Tommy Agee in CF led off but moved to third in the order against lefties.

All through the season. Of course, he had power that Dyson doesn't usually have. But he gave it a ride tonight. Against a reliever who had not given up a run in his 25 1/3 innings.

Torey post-game said that Tyson was previously either 2 for 3 or 3 for 4 against Leclerc. He was the right choice (obviously). :)

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Fans nine in no-decision
Rotowire 6H ago
Greinke didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rangers, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine over 6.2 innings.

The veteran hurler was on the hook for his second loss before Jarrod Dyson swatted a walk-off homer in the ninth inning off Texas closer Jose Leclerc. Greinke has bounced back in strong fashion from his Opening Day disaster against the Dodgers, posting a 19:1 K:BB in 13 innings while recording consecutive quality starts. He'll look to keep rolling Sunday in a home outing against the Padres.
