Their opener (pitches the first one or two innings) retires the D-backs in order.

Clarke gives up a leadoff HR to CF.

Stanek pitched the first two innings for the Rays as the "opener" (a righty) and gave up one hit.

Then the lefty Beeks came in to pitch, I guess, as many innings as he can.

'Still a 1-0 game in the top of the 4th. <-------- Disregard that!

Ahmed with a 2-out 2-strike double drives in the tying run.

The Rays regain the lead on a double play grounder in the bottom of the 4th. 2-1.

It's the 7th, Yoshi is in . . . and an RBI double for the Rays for a 3-1 lead.

Runners on 2B & 3B with one out. Yoshi and Archie -- our 7th & 8th inning
relievers -- have both let us down.

And another runs scores on an grounder. 4-1. Runners on 1st & 3rd.
Still one out.

A liner off the bat of Flores playing 1B. (He's a second baseman.)
Another runs scores. 5-1. Runners on 1B & 2B. Yoshi is gone.

Andriese is in and strands the runners.

Bullpen needs a retool. Only Holland and Lopez have been decent. Fetters has to be on thin ice at this point.

The Rays strike out the side in the 8th. The Snakes have
become snake-bitten and are mediocre. 'Disappointing!

Attendance for the second night in a row is under 9,000,
with less than that still in the stands during the 8th inning.

Another run scores and it's 6-1 with two outs. Chafin now
coming in. The whole bullpen, other than Holland, sucks.

Going into the top of the 9th.

BTW, the finale tomorrow starts at 10 AM Phoenix time.

The exact attendance tonight was 8,059. Boo!

Carson Kelly with a 2-out solo HR. 6-3.

The Rays will be trying for a sweep tomorrow.

Yoan Lopez has been excellent in addition to Holland. Hirano has regressed quite a bit, Archie has fallen off of a cliff, Chafin and Andriese are Jekyll and Hyde, McFarland is just coming back from a major injury, and Godley is Godley. The Bullpen is in very bad shape.

Maybe I’m naive, but I maintain that Archie’s collapse on Sunday is the precursor to this three-game winning streak. We win on Sunday, this team has a different mojo. It just feels lifeless after playing beyond itself the past few weeks or so.

Like I said, the same thing happened last year.

The Rays are very, very good. Its a shame hardly anyone comes to see them.

I think they are just getting worked by a better team right now.. I'm encouraged overall with the results. But we are such a fringe team this year that its gonna make being a fan nauseating at times.. which is never a fun experience.

I agree that this is part of the funk we are in, but it is not just Archie. Yoshi has also been undependable.
Our 7th and 8th inning guys.

The rest of our bullpen aside from Holland and Lopez has been disappointing as well.

And that puts pressure on the starters. It is a situation that mushrooms.
