Except for Walker at 1B, it looks like Torey is supporting Duplantier with
the strongest lineup we could muster in his first start.

It is pretty much interchangeable at Catcher. With the advancement that
Carson Kelly has been making, right now we can't go wrong with either
Avila or him. Kelly looks like our Catcher for the future.

Kron has been sent down to the Minors. At least he'll get some playing time.

Dyson back in the starting lineup after sitting for two games.

Duplantier with a strikeout, a walk and a double play grounder.

A scoreless first inning for a D-backs pitcher. 'Nice to see for a change.

The home plate ump had to leave the game in the 2nd, with Duplantier
then standing around for over 8 minutes.

And he gives up a run on a base hit. Steve was right. He should have
gone into the dugout and treated it as between innings, then be
allowed to throw normal warm-up pitches when the new home plate
ump came back out.

And Duplantier gives up a 2-run double. A bad break for him. 3-0.

Whatever happens to him this game should not be held against him.

Especially with Lovullo screwing up his routine by using him as a reliever
and not a starter prior to today.

Can't have Cron challenge Walker. It makes him nervous, so need to send him back to Reno. Some of these moves make absolutely no sense. Guys come up and play well and get sent back down. Guys who are struggling get more playing time.

As someone posted, Torey has his favorites.

I never thought I'd wish for Lamb to come back so he and Walker can split time at 1B.

Either way, Cron doesn't have a chance ... to get a chance.

I'm switching to the Mercury televised game, which got a late TV start.

Good luck, D-backs. I never expected they would be a continuation
of the Suns dysfunctional management.

Having that old timer field that ball probably helped prevent an extra run

What was the point of having Archie hit for himself only to pull him ?
Could it be because Torey left himself with only three position players on the bench when Cron was sent down?

Well, I watched the Mercury pull out a 2-point victory over Las Vegas in the WNBA.
All five starters scored in double digits in a physical game. A team effort.

OK, D-backs. Avila got on as the tying run in the bottom of the 9th.

And is left as the D-backs go down 5-4.

It was good to see Walker come through with 3 hits including a HR.

Greinke pitches tomorrow.

Can someone please explain to me why Andriese was pitched in an unfamiliar set-up role in the 8th instead of Lopez, who has been our best reliever?

We likely lose 2 of 3 to the Muts and Doyers. This team will be 10 below .500 really soon and the season done. Good news is we have a ton of draft picks in this years draft .
