I posted previously that Torey announced that Walker would get 400 at-bats this season.
He has said that Walker needs to relax. Motivation is one thing. Setting it in stone is crazy!
Tory also announced that developing players is not as important as the needs of the team.
Well, as 1Sun knows, I described the Manager's behavior as "A$$hole".
The only reason that Cron was called back up right after he was sent down is that Swihart
went on the DL.
Cron's 3 hits (all doubles) had come in his only two starts. Otherwise, he struck out in
all but one pinch hitting appearance. The other was an out as well.
Yesterday Cron pinch hit again and doubled. Four hits this season. Still all doubles.
His role, until Swithart returns, is clearly to pinch hit and start only on Walker's
mandatorey days off. Then he'll be sent down again.
Walker finally had two good games when Cron went down. Yesterday, he blanked again.
Buck Showalter was the D-back's first, and obsessive, Manager. Torey Lovullo is
our current, and most obsessive, Manager.
He is trying to ruin Cron, just as he tried with Duplantier. He doesn't develop Minor
Leaguers. He sets them back. Hopefully Duplantier will get back to the level he
was at when he first came up and was used to the routine of a starting pitcher.
As I also posted, both Walker and Cron are older rookies -- in their mid- to
upper twenties. Whatever happened to "let the better man win"?
