The D-backs top two run producers are Escobar (48 RBI's) and Marte (43 RBI's).
Where are they batting? 1st and 2nd. By definition, they start the game with no
previous runners on base, then follow the bottom of the order (the weakest
part) for the rest of the game.

Lovullo insists on batting Marte leadoff whenever he can. It makes no sense!
It puts the team at a disadvantage. Especially on an offense that constantly
has to play catch up. Which then puts pressure on the pitchers.

Do the batting coaches have no input? Do they also not know any better?
Does management not see the results of Torey's obsessions?

Is anyone in management a professional?

Very interested to see how Clarke responds.
Clarke gives up a 2-run triple to Bellinger with 1 out in the top of the 1st.

He stranded the runner at 3B, but threw 30 pitches.

Another D-backs 1st inning high pitch count.

Down 3-0 and I think we all feel like its likely a good game unless the Doyers pen blows it. With our inconsistent offense against Ryu I am not expecting much. The Dodgers are light years ahead of us organizationally.

The Dbacks know they can get hits right?
"Can" = capability. "May" = permission.

They "may"! They have our permission.

"May" also means possibility.

But "can" they? That remains to be seen.

And McFarland gives up a solo HR and
another run on a double in the 7th.

Then runners on 2nd & 3rd stranded.

5-0 Dodgers . . . so far. Yes, they hit them so far. :)

Ah, linguistics. And double meanings.

Archie in to pitch the 8th and gives up a run (of course, sadly). 6-0.

Steve and Gonzo (doing color commentary tonight) discussing Archie's
problems are trying to be diplomatic.

You can't candy coat it, guys. It is not about identity. Or needing to
work on this or that. Archie has one pitch. A fast, but not spectacular,
fast ball. Thousands of guys across the country can do the same, but
are not in the Majors.

BTW, the Dodgers have 3 errors and the D-backs 2 so far. Sloppy!
But the D-backs couldn't capitalize on it.

Archie...
He can't hear you. He is trying to "find himself". :bigyawn:

And Archie gives up two doubles to start the 9th.

The RAI Guy. Run an inning (at least).

Hold on. Following an intentional walk, Archie
gives up a 2-run double. Third double of the
inning. 9-0 Dodgers.

It's sad to watch him sinking into quicksand.

Muncy just swung at a curve ball. Why any player offers at that pitch is beyond me.

His curve balls are looking good in this inning, hitting the zone and dropping. The batters just know they can wait for the fastball and when it comes, its easily hit-able.

At this point all the hitter has to do is recognize and lay off the curve and sit on flat ball...i mean fast ball

BTW, Jones left the game earlier with a tight hamstring.

Everything the D-backs touch is now turning into poop.

Final score: 9-0. D-backs have lost 12 of their last 17.

Or that might be 13 of their last 18 games now.

During the post game, Grace and Webb both expressed concern about Archie. Todd Walsh said out was difficult to watch Archie.

About time they noticed
Oh, I think they noticed. Walsh, Grace and Webb work for Fox Sports Arizona, not directly for
the D-backs. None of the three are smooth in their presentation, but they are experienced. *

I understand that they have to be diplomatic. Steve and BB also work for Cox but have been
honest about Archie's problems and why he hasn't been able to solve them.

In addition to Steve and BB being knowledgeable and personable, I appreciate their honesty in
calling the games. They don't insult the intelligence of D-backs fans for the 3+ hours they are
on the air.

* For the record, I can't stand watching and listening to Walsh, Grace and Webb. Walsh starts
every sentence with the word, "I". It should be about the team, not about him. Grace, with his
arms flailing, is downright uncomfortable to watch. He is hyper! And Webb with his constant
"Y'know" is not an announcer. I have never heard him come up with a fresh opinion. He just
repeats what Walsh or Jody says.

Which is why I don't usually watch the pre-or post game shows unless I particularly want to
hear a post-game interview.
